 The academy has just completed its first round of Sports Unlimited Table Tennis Sessions in partnership with the Hastings & Rother School  Sports Partnership.

A total of 16 year 4/5 pupils from Mountfield & Whatlington Primary School enjoyed 6 weeks of table tennis along with their class teacher, Miss Smith. The scheme is aimed at semi-sporty children to encourage them to try out new sports, and hopefully take up a sport or two!

As well as introducing basic skills both on and off the table, the school also empowers a member of staff to enable them to deliver some basic skills during normal PE lessons. For this reason the member of staff works along side a qualified coach for 5 sessions before taking charge in the final session of the 6 week course.

The outcome of the initial sessions has seen an increase in after school participation from pupils, proving that providing a bring between the school PE curriculum and extra curricular activities though the input of professional coaches can prove very productive.
