Cadets Take National Cadet SE Region Crown

   
 
National Cadet Leage SE Champions 2009


Four young players from Battle Table Tennis Club have continued their success this season by taking the ETTA SE Region National Cadet League.  

The talented Claverham Community Sports College pupils remained in top spot all season and took the title with a clear 12pts from their nearest rivals The Weald who they beat 6 – 3 in the final match of this seasons campaign.

Recently the same team consisting of Jake Ramsden, Kieran Dicker, Will Ellin and Fenn Sternberg represented Claverham as E.Sussex Schools U13 Champions in the Regional Finals of the Butterfly English Schools Team Championships. Unfortunately the teams 5th player, Jakob Brown was recovering from an injury and couldn’t take part, however the team acknowledged the part that he played in this years competition.  

ETTA Coach and Team Manager, Kevin Haffenden commented ‘ These young players have made me extremely proud this season. Reaching the last 16 in the Country in the Schools Event is a great achievement, taking the National Cadet League as well certainly is the icing on the cake’. The clubs other Cadet team, Hallam Earl, Andrew Martin, Will Templeton, Jakob Brown and Cameron Tyeson took 4th spot in the Cadet League.

 

In the National Junior League Battle took 3rd spot this season. Chris Stern, Chris Wakeford and Brett Beetham competed in what can be considered one of the toughest seasons for a while giving an excellent account of themselves throughout the season.
